Diamond size is measured in carats usually shown as ct after the point size such as 1.5ct. Below are some common sizes of round diamonds. The images represent the approximate size of diamonds by size. Carat to weight ratio: 1 carat = 200 milligrams.

Rapaport is the most widely used diamond wholesale price sheet which is used by most jewellery dealers to price diamonds. The price is set by the market trends and sales. Rapaport publish a trade price list which sets the market price for diamonds based on a grading system.

The price of diamond can vary greatly depending on more that just the carat of a diamond. That's right all diamonds are not created equal. In fact there can quite substancial differences in the price of same size carat diamond based on it's colour, cut and clarity.

An IF clarity D colour .50 well cut round brilliant diamond would cost £1,900 wholesale. Retails for about £2500.
A VS2 clarity H colour .50 well cut round brilliant diamond would cost £725 wholesale. Retails for about £1200.
